LinuxMint Website Hacked: ISO links Hijacked
|Warning LinuxMint users ! Did you downloaded the Linux mint iso file recently ? You may be now hijacked by some unknown hacker group.
As you all know, Linux mint is the popular distribution for all those Debian and Linux lovers.It is the most widely used Linux distribution after Ubuntu Linux. So.So many users may be effected with this hack.
What Happend to LinuxMint exactly:
As per the official response some unknown hacker group managed in to the linuxmint website and these hackers replaced the download links on the site that pointed to one of their servers which added malicious ISO images for the Linux Mint 17.3 Cinnamon Edition.
“Hackers made a modified Linux Mint ISO, with a backdoor in it, and managed to hack our website to point to it,” the head of Linux Mint project Clement Lefebvre said in a surprising announcement dated February 21, 2016.
LinuxMint sys admins acted immediately and they took the entire linuxmint.com domain offline to prevent the ISO images from spreading to its users.
The Linux Mint website is still down when i’m composing the post.LinuxMint team investigates the issue entirely. However, the hackers’ motive behind the hack is not clear yet.
