Microsoft Hotmail Banned Common Passwords. Added New Security Feature “My Friend’s been Hacked”

Microsoft pushed out new security feature’s to help protect your Hotmail and Live Accounts. Now Onwards Microsoft will prevent you from using several Common passwords that make your account vulnerable to brute force “dictionary” attacks and that makes your account easy to hack. Another feature let’s you report a friend’s account as compromised.

Dick Craddock in windows stream Blog explained the new features to general public. In most of the cases hackers getting in to Hotmail and live accounts by sending spam mails to all the contacts on your friends hijacked account. The new security feature “My Friend’s been Hacked” will help you report your friend’s account as compromised. This new option will be visible to your “Mark as” tab located in your mail account interface.

You can also report an account as compromised when you mark a message as junk or otherwise move a message to the Junk folder:

The best things is, you can also report any email account such as Yahoo! Mail and Gmail, as compromised too, and Hotmail will provide the compromise information to both Yahoo! and Gmail.These new feature on Hotmail and live accounts will be rolling out very soon.
