Microsoft Donated 1 Million to Train Teachers in Africa

Bill Gates always there on the charity front, Microsoft’s “Partners in Learning program”, which launched back  in 2003  in a mission to  donate $500 million to help providing tools to teachers and students .The Partners in Learning program has reached more than 196 million teachers and students in 114 countries.

Microsoft presently running “partners in learning” event in Washington,DC, where they are discussing about the technology in education. During this event Microsoft announced 1 million donations to help train teachers in Africa. Microsoft expecting this move will help the African countries to improve their educational system.

As per the Tech flash reports,

“Microsoft’s donation will be used to build 80 “digital hubs” in schools across the continent and is expected to “train 20,000 teachers and provide 100,000 learners and communities with digital access.”

These technology centers will be using Microsoft MultiPoint servers that allow multiple students to use the same PC as others, but use their own keyboard/monitor and mouse, similar to a remote desktop connection.

I think it’s a good initiative from Microsoft and need to be covered to more developing countries too. What do you think?
