Airplane Mode Android – Everything You Want To Know

If you have ever flown in an airplane you must have noticed that while they take off the flight attendants make an announcement  to “Switch off” all your electronic gadgets or put all the gadgets using wireless signals or connectivity on “Airplane Mode”. The extensively  used gadget which everyone carries is Mobile Phone. Majorly this is done to prevent interference and interruption in the flight navigation and communication system. The name is derived from the functionality aspect associated with it.

You can still use your mobile phone but its operation of signal sending and receiving has been suspended. By putting your android cell phone on the “Airplane mode” you will switch off all the transceivers of WiFi, Bluetooth antennas and 3G services.

Some phone still allows you to use GPS, Bluetooth, FM and wireless LAN while your phone is in airplane mode. It depends on the configuration of the cell phone since it is allowed to use these features on some planes.  During flight mode your mobile phone conserves a great deal of battery life. Since there is no use of using your cell phone while taxing because the reception will not be that good as it is on earth and moreover it may hamper the normal flight execution.

How to activate the Airplane Mode

Activating airplane mode is easy as clicking or taping on your device.If you still not aware what is it, then follow the steps below to activate airplane mode on your android devices.

• Click on the Home button on your Android phone.
• Then click on the menu button to open the menu and scroll down to the “System Settings” option.
• In the settings you will see the wireless and connectivity tab click on it.
• When it opens the first option will be of the flight mode.

• You can turn it on by clicking on it.
• It will turn blue or a tick mark will appear in front of it which will show that airplane mode has been activated and your phone transmissions are now off.

How To Deactivate The Airplane Mode

• To turn off the airplane mode the whole process is just the same and you have to move to the flight mode option and again click on it.
• Make sure it is turned off and tick mark in front of it is removed or it has been turned colorless.

How to Access GPS on airplane mode

This is one of the prominent features of the android operating system  that while your cell phone is on the airplane mode you can still use the GPS system. Certainly you need to have the permission of the airplane operator that you are allowed to use the GPS while on-board. This is a simple process and follow the steps mentioned below:

• Click on the home icon
• Press the menu button and again open the settings.
• In the settings menu select the feature you want to activate.
• Normally the Bluetooth feature is inaccessible.
• One option there will be GPS . You have to activate it and then the symbol of both the GPS and flight mode will appear on the top of the main screen of your android cell phone.
