Facebook Not Opening In Safari On Mac – Fix
|I just come across some unusual issue related to accessing Facebook on safari browser in my MacBook. I received an error message “ Safari can’t open the page https://www.facebook.com because safari can’t establish a secure connection to the server www.facebook.com. ”
Fortunately Facebook was working fine in other browsers installed on my MacBook. Means it showing only problem when I am using Safari Browser. So I Eagerly gone for a research on the matter and finally able to fix the Facebook not loading issue on safari browser.
So why Facebook.com not opening in safari browser?
As you know, Apple is updating their safari browser when there is any new exploit is being found or for better usability. The problem in accessing Facebook is because safari can’t verify the identity of facebook.com URL! Really!!
It happens some times if you are not yet updated your web browser and Facebook got much higher security certificate installed. So in this case you need to update and check out other possibilites.
1.First thing you have to do is check the safari version and make sure it is updated to the latest version. Updating safari browser is important because antiquated versions of Safari may have a bug, flaw, or unpatched security issue that is causing the certificate verification issue on some websites.
2.Check for certificate error.
3.Enable cookies on safari browser if it is blocked.
4.Disable the add-ons you installed on safari browser one by one and try to access facebook.com. Some times privacy protection extensions such as “Avg donot track” will disconnect communicating to Facebook servers.
6. Clear all cookies presently on Safari browser. Locate the cookies.plist file that’s located in the Home/Library/Cookies/ folder and remove it.
7. Go to Home/Library/Caches/Metadata/Safari/ and remove all the contents of that folder.
8.The final option, Go to Home/Library/Safari/ folder and remove the two files named : history.plist and lastsession.plist.
Let me know if any of the method worked for you or not?
