How To Install Google Chrome On Ubuntu 11.10 ?
|Ubuntu, world’s most trusted and widely used Linux distribution.Canonical, company behind Ubuntu recently released their latest Linux version Ubuntu 11.10.Ubuntu 11.10 coming with tons of enhanced features compared to any other versions of Ubuntu Linux.I was using Linux for a long time and today I upgraded to the latest version of Ubuntu. Most of the features are awesome in ubuntu 11.10 ,Unfortunately I really disappointed with small issue while installing Google Chrome.I am unable to install the deb downloaded installation file from Google .when ever I tried to install it through the Software Center as we did earlier versions of Ubuntu,Ubuntu 11.10 giving me an error same as below.
“Internal Error
“The file google-chrome-stable_current_i386.deb can not be opened.”
Are you facing any similar issue while installing Google Chrome on ubuntu 11.10 ? No problem ! now I found the solution to fix this issue on Ubuntu 11.10. Follow below steps to fix the chrome installation errors on Ubuntu 11.10 Linux.
- Step 1: Download Google Chrome from here : http://www.google.com/chrome
- Step 2: Open a Terminal window in Ubuntu 11.10 and go to the folder where you downloaded the Google Chrome installation file.
If your Google chrome installation file downloaded to the “downloads” folder, type same as below in the terminal window.
1 | cd Downloads |
Now, issue the following two commands to first try installing Chrome and next to fix the dependencies :
1 2 |
sudo dpkg -i package-name sudo apt-get -f install |
Replace “package-name” with the name of the downloaded file… in my case I downloaded the 32bit version of Google Chrome for debian, For example “google-chrome-stable_current_i386.deb”
1 2 |
sudo dpkg -i google-chrome-stable_current_i386.deb sudo apt-get -f install |
You are done ! Go to the menu and launch Google Chrome! I think Ubuntu team need to look on this issue other wise they will lose some Google Fans.
