How to send free SMS to your friend’s mobile from Gmail ?
|Google always there when you want to interact with your friends when they are online, but what about when your friends are offline? Yes now you can; Now Google allows you send free SMS to your contacts’ mobile phones using Gmail Chat.
This service is now available in US and few other countries also expected to cover all the carriers around the world.Go through the steps to send free SMS to your friends mobile.
Step 1: Go to Gmail and login to your account. If you don’t have a Gmail account Signup here to send free SMS to your friends mobile.
Step 2: Once log in you will see Send SMS box interface just above your chat window. Enter your friend’s phone number to the Send SMS box interface in order to send SMS
Step 3: Once you added the Phone number to the interface just Click Enter on the Keyboard. Now you will get a new popup window where you can enter your friend’s name and confirm the phone number and country are correct. Then, click Save
Please not that this service is presently available through selected service providers in selected countries. You can check which service provider is supporting this free SMS service from Google by visiting this page.
Step 4: Once you done save on the Pop up window,Gmail will open another interface where you can type your message in the chat interface and just enter to send it to your friends mobile.
If your friend replies, the text message response will appear as a reply in Chat. These conversations are stored in your Chat history just like regular chats (but keep in mind that you can’t go off the record while communicating via SMS).
