Intel Core2Duo Vs Intel Dual Core

Many of you may be faced confusion between Intel core 2 duo and Intel dual core processor. Me also the one who wondered and confused on my initial stage with these names .so lets make it simpler now. The confusion coming to our mind due to the stupid naming done by Intel.

Intel Core2Duo Vs Intel Dual Core : The Name

The similarity in name made many computer freaks under confusion when some one ask them to do a comparison.But here we are doing it as a challenge.

If you investigate deeply in to both processors you will find these two processors are on different architecture; in core 2 duo Intel uses two cores in one die that means two chips in one package.

Dual core is the first double core technology from Intel. Basically core 2 duo is an improved architecture and efficiency compared to dual core .Dual core is better performing than all old previous processors in Pentium Series but no better than Core 2 Duo.

Core 2 duo is cooler than any other processor. Dual core also cool but not like core 2 duo.

Dual core can be over clocked up to 20-30% of its specified clock speed without much problem where as in core 2 duo easily over clocked up to 4.0 GHz with suitable coolers. Even a over clocking at 6.0GHz was made possible with Liquid Nitrogen cooling.

Dual core is power efficient than other previous processors up a TDP of 15 watts, where in Core 2 duo it is far better with a TDP of 65 watts. Core 2 duo available with great Clock speed.

The industry standard price for core 2 duo is higher than dual core processors. Dual core processors have maximum of 2MB L2 cache and front side bus speed up 667 MHz while in core 2 duo it is 6MB L2 cache and front side bus speed up 1333 MHz.It is confirmed by several bench-marking tests that Core 2 duo is more performing than dual core.

Nowadays Intel come up with more high performing processors that named core i3, i5, i7 etc.These processors changed the meaning of multitasking.
