Things To Do After Installing Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail
|Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail is out today and I hope you guys already upgraded to Ubuntu 13.04.If you still not upgraded to Ubuntu 13.04,I recommend you go for it and feel the awesome changes. Once you are upgraded to the latest Ubuntu Raring Ringtail,please look out the things that you have to take care of.
Step 1 : See What is new in Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail

Step 2 : Check the Wi-Fi and Sound is working normal as before
Some times the upgrade will kill your Audio and Wi-Fi settings ( Not reported for Ubuntu 13.04) Similar issues happened in earlier Ubuntu releases.
If you are facing any driver issues please enable the additional third party drivers to get the best performance. I hope the latest Ubuntu will work smoothly on most modern hardwares out there.
Step 3 : Run the “Update” after installing fresh copy of Ubuntu 13.04
You can do this by going to the terminal window and entering sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade
Step 4: Configure your Ubuntu One cloud account
Ubuntu one coming with a default 5GB free cloud space, where you an keep your all personal things and upgrade is available for those who require additional space. Ubuntu One also allows the users to sync the files between computers and mobile devices as well as stream audio and music from cloud to mobile devices.
Step 5: Centralized Hub for all Online accounts
Ubuntu 13.04 makes it easy with a centralized Hub to manage all your online accounts in few clicks. With this centralized hub you can also define which application will be used for managing which online account.
Step 6: Check Privacy Settings
Privacy is very important and you can change the Privacy options from the system settings. As you know the Unity dash coming with lot of information’s including your recent application and file activity. The “Off” switch,in the privacy options will be handy if you not want to experience the new unity dash.
Step 7: Install Basic Codecs you required
You can do this from the terminal by executing below command and it will give better sensibility to your system.sudo apt-get install non-free-codecs libxine1-ffmpeg gxine mencoder totem-mozilla icedax tagtool easytag id3tool lame nautilus-script-audio-convert libmad0 mpg321 mpg123libjpeg-progs
Step 8 : Monitor your Ubuntu 13.04 from the desktop itself
System monitoring is very important and I personally go for Conky, A light weighted system monitor for X.COmes with nice themes and monitor all information you wanted such as CPU usage,RAM usage,Disk Usage,Network and lot more.
Step 9 : Install Ubuntu Restricted Extras
Ubuntu will not be able able to play certain music and film formats by default because of the license restrictions but if you install the restricted codex package the issue will be resolved.
Step 10: Install your Favorite Apps from Software center
Once you are done with the basics ,go to software center and install your favorite applications.
